Dr. Nilo Roa was a new graduate from the UST College of Medicine when he accepted in 1950 the invitation of Mayor Glicerio Alarkon, Sr. and his wife Luz to come to Caramoan and serve the health needs of the Caramoanons.In 1952, he erected the Roa residence. His wife, Teresing, a dentist by profession, supported him devotedly as he fulfilled his duties as the Municipal Health Officer, a position he held until he retired. With the passing of Drs. Nilo and Teresing Roa, the residence became a favorite vacation house for the Roa children, their friends and their guests.
But in 1998, Typhoon Rosing completely reduced the Roa residence to ruins. Knowing the allure of the magnificent beaches and exotic islets that abound in Caramoan, Dr Dolly Roa-Perez decided to answer the needs of a growing local and foreign tourist trade. At the heart of these idyllic locations, she rebuilt the Roa residence and transformed it into a haven for travelers and tourists complete with admirable amenities and first-class facilities.
From the ruins of the Roa residence, La Casa Roa Hostel was born. On May 6, 2003, it was formally blessed and inaugurated ….. a home away from home ….. where vacations begin with exotic beaches and end with lasting memories…..
